Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS presented by Circle K tournament update

Competition: Timuquana Country Club ready for the world’s best

Fan Experience: Everything fans need to know

Environmental Impact: Constellation’s commitment to sustainability

JACKSONVILLE, FL – As the inaugural Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS presented by Circle K at Timuquana Country Club approaches, fans are reminded of several key competition, fan experience and environmental impact initiatives for the October 8-10 event that will bring the legends of the game to the greater Jacksonville area.

COMPETITION: The legends of the game will arrive in Jacksonville in less than one week and tournament host Jim Furyk is excited to see Timuquana Country Club showcase everything that makes it special to members, fans and players.

“Timuquana is such a great course. I think the guys will love it and I know the fans are going to love it as well,” Furyk said. “All of our hospitality structures are built into the natural layout and fit perfectly to show off so much of the course while providing incredible views of the action.”

Timuquana Country Club was founded in 1923 when 50 community leaders decided to form a new golf club for Jacksonville. The Club is named after a Timucuan tribe of Native Americans who once lived along the edges of the St. Johns River which borders the Club and will provide beautiful views for players and fans alike. Donald Ross, who was the most accomplished golf architect during that time, was chosen as the course designer and constructed a beautiful, tree-lined property.

“This course is a fantastic representation of old Florida golf. The tee shots can be tricky and bunkers are well placed. The way the trees line some of the holes, players will have to shape their shots. The greens are truly the defense of the golf course and require accurate approach shots,” said Furyk. “I think you could see some big momentum swings coming down the last four holes. There are some great risk-reward opportunities that should create an exciting finish for the tournament.”

“We are incredibly proud to be the host site for the Constellation Furyk and Friends presented by Circle K,” said Greg Sheara, the Club’s General Manager. “When we were approached by Jim and Tabitha regarding the opportunity, we found that their vision of the event, its impact on local charities and showcasing the West side of Jacksonville was a perfect match for the Club. Timuquana has hosted a number of USGA and state amateur championships and this event will only add to the prestigious reputation and storied history of the Club.”

Environmental Impact – Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS presented by Circle K has made a commitment to improve the environment and the Jacksonville community by selecting caring partners to create an environmentally friendly tournament which will provide support to our community.

  • Sustainability through Partnership
  • Sustainability at the Tournament
  • Sustainability in the Community

Fans at the Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS presented by Circle K will be able visit Constellation’s “Driving Sustainability” fan activation on the 18th hole to make a pledge to take steps to conserve energy and make a positive impact on the environment in their everyday lives. Each pledge will be matched with a Constellation donation to The Nature Conservancy to further their mission to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. The area will include the interactive pledge wall as well as solar-powered charging stations.

The pledge wall will ask fans to reduce their impact on the environment by pledging to turn off lights when leaving a room, switch to a renewable energy source, use refillable water bottles, install LED lightbulbs and to utilize public transportation.

The event has instituted the following policies and procedures to help reduce waste:

  • Recycle container placed throughout the tournament
  • Spectator Guide printed on recycled paper
  • Digital ticketing for tournament and for concert
  • Refillable water bottles included as part of Pro-Am gifting

Constellation will purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for every megawatt-hour of electricity consumed during tournament week – meaning the energy footprint of the event will be offset through renewable sources (100% wind generation).

Timuquana Country Club is equipped with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on property as part of their sustainability partnership with the event.

The tournament is proud to partner with Circle K to provide 100% sustainably sourced coffee for Vystar Patriot’s Outpost.  Circle K is first nationwide convenience retailer to offer 100% sustainably sourced coffee in the U.S.

In addition to the electronic charging stations, Timuquana Country Club’s efforts towards sustainability will include:
